Racing for the first time - A beginner’s guide.

Welcome to BMX racing!  Here is a breakdown of a typical racing day at our track.

1. Prior to coming to the track.....Make sure you have the proper riding equipment.  This means that your bike is in good riding condition and that you have the proper racing gear.  For a general guide, check out the "Equipment" section.

2. Make sure you are aware of the scheduled times for registration/practices.  Call ahead to the track personal or if they have a web site check things out there.

3. Arrive on or before the scheduled time.  Don't wait until the last minute to arrive just in case last minute issues come up.  Better early then late.

4. Find a parking area and unload your bike.

5. Registration - Take your NBL card or pink registration slip up the registration booth to register for your class.  If you are a first time rider signing up with the NBL you will need to fill out a NBL form.  A copy of your birth certificate is also required for first time registration.  The registration people will help you fill out this form and advise you of the cost.  The next step is pay the race entry fee ($8 with trophy/points or $5 points only.)  This is also a good opportunity to ask questions.

6. Bike Inspection - Once registered, you will need to take your bike to the "Bike Inspection" area.  There your bike will be inspected per the NBL's requirements.  Once your bike has been inspected your bike will receive a inspection sticker.

7. After you pass the bike inspection and your registration is finished you can proceed to practice on the track prior to the race if permitted.

8. Moto board - Prior to the race, you will need to come to the Moto board and find your moto number and gate.  If you do not see your number listed, come to the registration booth immediately so we can assist you.

9. Staging Area - After you have found where your suppose to be you will need to line up in the staging area according to your moto number.  The area is roped off and sectioned into lanes.   Track personal will be available for you if you need them.  Listen for your moto number to be called and wait to take your place at the starting hill.

10. Once in your place at the starting gate you will wait until you hear the following:  "Riders ready......the light will turn green and the gate will drop.  You’re now on your way.......Best of luck!

Scoring - After every moto the finish line scorers will mark down your number next to the appropriate place that you received.  After every moto is finished, the racer in each class will be marked for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on.  Moto sheets will then be taken to the registration booth to determine trophies etc.

Awards - Riders who signed up for a trophy will received there's after the race at the registration booth.  Please be patient as the scorers need to make sure they have everything completed prior to handing out trophies.
